India Blue won the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy by defeating India Red by eight wickets at Cuttack on October 26, 2008. Chasing a victory target of 152 runs, the solid partnership of 93 runs between Ajinkya Rahane and Robin Uthappa helped India Blue to reach the total in just 25.4 overs.
Earlier electing to bat first, the Reds were all bundled out for 151 in 43 overs. The initial blows by Ashok Dinda and Siddhrath Trivedi had the Reds reeling at 72 for 6. After that the 66-run stand between captain S Badrinath (56) and Praveen Kumar (35) enabled the Reds to put some runs on the board.
