With every new game, Yuvraj is showing the world what exactly he can do when at his best. Yuvraj today not only steered the India’s batting line-up but also captured four crucial wickets to guide India to a 54-run victory in the second ODI against England, being played at Indore.
England had to chase 292 runs to register a win but failed miserably against the terrific bowling attack on a pitch that favored the spinners. Opener Ian Bell went cheaply while taking a cheeky single. Owaish Shah (58) and Matt Prior (38) took up the challenge and cemented a good partnership of over 90 runs. They were looking good before Yuvraj came and put an end to the momentum. Captain Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff while capitalizing the third power-play hit some good shots and scored 59 runs in five overs. However, every time they found themselves closer to the victory Yuvraj came in their way and shattered their dreams. He sent back both Flintoff (43) and Pietersen (33) to pavilion. They were soon followed by Paul Collingwood (2). Rest is history. No English batsmen could hold on to the crease for longer. For India, Yuvraj picked up four wickets and he was supported by Virendra Sehwag (3) on the other end, who uprooted the tail-enders in no time.
Earlier, despite a fine start by the English bowlers, particularly Stuart Broad, who picked up three early wickets, England failed to capitalize the situation and fell prey to Yuvraj. It was blistering knock in which Yuvaraj hammered almost all the English bowlers. He hit 15 fours and two sixes to reach 118 runs mark in 122 balls. He was well supported by Gautam Gambhir (70) in the initial overs and by flamboyant Yusuf Pathan at the later stage of the innings. Pathan scored 50 runs in just 29 balls in which he hit four sixes and two boundaries. India now leads the seven-match series by 2-0.
