India defeated Belgium 6-4 to register their second victory in the Azlan Shah Hockey tournament. The win keeps India in contention for the title. Earlier, India defeated Canada 3-1. India displayed some fine hockey in the first half to secure a lead of 5-1. But Belgium fought back strongly in the second half to score three goals. The Indian defenders defended strongly to stay afloat in the tournament.

For India, Shivendra Singh and Sandeep Singh scored a couple of goals while SV Sunil and Diwakar Ram scored one goal each. Alexender de Sadeleere, Jerome Trueyns, Thomas Briels and Charles Vandewgheles scored for Belgium who did rattle India during the second half. India have now 6 points from the four matches they have played so far in the seven-nation tournament. India seems to be improving after losing their encounters against New Zealand and Argentina.

Indian players displayed some great stick work in the first half to score 5 goals but the fire seemed to be lost during the second half. The forward line faced difficulties to break the defense of the opponents. However, the win is sure to boost the morale of players in their coming matches.
