Earlier part-time courses for working professionals and now distance learning programs for them; IITD is certainly in expanding mode. In its goal to expand its reachin NCR and offer quality education to working professionals, IITD recently launched its distance learning program. According to IIT Delhi director Surendra Prasad IITD is embarking on a major distance learning project.
 
Commenting on the new initiative, Mr Prasad said that besides rigorous class-room teaching, they are opening their gate to as many industry professionals as possible through the distance learning mode. With the facility of distance learning students would not need to come to IIT Delhi. Then, where would classes be held? He said the classes would come to student’s offices.
 
Accordingly, there would be live classes, two-way interactions and panel discussions, special lectures through video conferencing. The program would be made attractive and worth some with special lecture CDs and effective study material. The new initiative of distance learning mode is a step forward in improving the IIT-industry interface.
