The elite technological club has witnessed a drastic change in its composition with IIT Mumbai having the 69 of the top 100 JEE rank holders. Just a decade ago, those who had a chance to get trough IIT Kanpur had been given a demi-god treatment, which is now experienced by those who got into IIT Mumbai.
But again, this status for IIT Mumbai is a short living one as IIT Delhi as well as IIT Chennai is gearing up. If you have a look at the choice of the institutes by the Top 100 JEE rank holders for the past five years, you can see the drastic variations that have come into picture in the choice made by these top guys.
A number of factors have been responsible for the reordering, from geography to gastronomy and placement records to what coaching classes preach to students.
Among the Top 100 JEE 2009 rank holders, 69 students have opted for IIT Mumbai and 19 have chosen IIT Delhi. The number of JEE toppers choosing Delhi has come down where as the number of students joining Mumbai has gone up.
This year the oldest of all the IITs, IIT Kharagpur has not received one single student from the creamy 100. Two decades ago, this used to be the first choice of any person who wanted to join IIT.
