IGNOU has plans for educating and training the youths belonging to below poverty line families of Orissa, MP, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
 
IGNOU spokesman Surojit Mahalanobis, while addressing the media, mentioned that the youths, who will clear the certificate programmes or diplomas, mostly in Information technology, will be given employment. The certificate courses are for a period of six months where as diploma courses are for one year.
 
IGNOU conduct the programme by means of Common Service Centre in the village panchayats of the above mentioned states.
 
The programmes will be implemented online from application to certification stages. The recruitment process of trained teachers from the areas near to these states for teaching and guiding these IGNOU students is in process.
 
The pass-out students will be employed in various industries in East Zone of India.
