The Indira Gandhi National Open University and the Papua New Guinea University of Technology have inked a Memorandum of Understanding, which will enable the development of cultural, educational and scientific relation between the two.
According to Silima Nanda, director (in charge) of IGNOU's International Division, the MoU will also empower the academic exchange and collaboration in fields of advance education and training.
Some of the programmes will be offered from July 2010 whereas 3 - 4 months are required for the development of the complete modalities.
IGNOU will offer degree, diploma and certificate programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
IGNOU will also "stress on research and development, application of information and communication technologies (ICTs) education and interactive multimedia and interactive education deliveries".
"This will eventually expand the educational horizon of the island nation especially in areas of distance learning, multimedia and ICT," the varsity said. Faculty exchange and experience sharing will also be included.
With this MoU, IGNOU has partnerships with 53 international institutions from 34 countries.
