A project of the World Bank, worth more than Rs.10 million, has been bagged by the Indira Gandhi National Open University. This project focuses on enhancing the productivity of eco-friendly farming by providing necessary training to the agricultural researchers.
According to the spokesperson of IGNOU, Ravi Mohan, the School of Agriculture of the IGNOU has received the research grant worth Rs.1.04 crore for going ahead with this project on 'Innovations in Technology Mediated Learning'.
The project can do a great deal for boosting the production of the crops as well as helping the farmers to make some profit. This project also focuses on reducing the negative impact which otherwise is experienced by the environment.
"This collaborative approach to education offers the chance to link research and learning into a coherent framework which focuses on problems of small farmers and generate more agricultural entrepreneurs," IGNOU Vice Chancellor V.N. Rajsekharan Pillai said.
This project will be implemented in Tripura state and will be offered to more than 500 learners. The project comes in three modules - Integrated Pest Management, Integrated Nutrient Management and Post-harvest Value Addition.
"The university will maintain a repository of re-usable learning objects (RLOs) at its main campus," Latha Pillai, pro-vice-chancellor of the university said.
