The ICICI Lombard, in collaboration with insurance and broking company Alegion will expand its Nirmaya scheme. Nirmaya scheme launched by the National Trust aims for the welfare of persons who have mental diseases like autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and multiple disabilities. According to sources, the scheme would be available across the country excluding the state of J&K.
Under the scheme, smart/biometric cards are given which facilitate subscriber to get accession to the services in empanelled hospitals. Reportedly, the scheme is meant to promote health security among Below Poverty Line (BPL) people. BPL people will not have to pay any premium for the insurance. Similarly, the scheme can be utilized by the people other than BPL after paying the premium.
The scheme provides a health insurance where a subscriber pays an annual premium of Rs 250. The health insurance covers damages up to Rs one lakh. Interestingly, medical screening is not imperative for enrolment under the scheme. Nirmaya provides cover to routine medical check, hospitalization, therapy to corrective surgery and transportation charges.
