The International Cricket Council's (ICC) annual conference scheduled for June 29-July 4 will be held in Dubai. For the first time since 1909 the conference will been held outside the Mecca of cricket, Lords England. ICC informed about this on Monday April, 29, 008. According to a statement released by the ICC, the decision to depart from the customary tradition has been taken so that all the members who are to attend the meeting get the required approval to enter United Arab Emirates (UAE).

 

According to the media reports, UK has blocked visa for Peter Chingoka, the chief of Zimbabwe Cricket Board. During the six day conference England’s David Morgan will take over as the president from Ray Mali whereas Haroon Lorgat will be the new CEO after Malcolm Speed was sacked by the ICC last month. Speed was sacked because of his differences with the members of the Board on various issues, particularly on the Zimbabwe issue. Dave Richardson is serving as the interim CEO till the office is taken over by Haroon Lorgat.
