Software giant IBM will soon start a mobile web project which aims to make mobile use easier than personal computers (PCs). On the tenth anniversary of IBM's India Research Labs, IBM declared about its mobile web project.

The project is named 'The Spoken Web - Voice-Enabled Mobile Commerce' and will have many features which will enable mobile users to access various applications through mobile phones. The project aims to integrate features like Instant Translation, Soulpad, Mobile Healthcare Information, Social Networking etc.

'Spoken Web' is one of the mobile web projects which will take shape in India. Spoken Web will serve as a world wide web in the telecom network through which people can access e commerce sites by spoken words rather than written words. People can also carry out any kind of business transactions through mobile phones. It is to be noted that IBM recently undertook a project in South India whereby rural people could get all the information on the net just by dialing a toll free number.
