Information Technology giant, International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) has recently introduced two new products having energy saving capabilities - a UNIX server and a water-cooled supercomputer. The IBM press release stated that its two new products, being energy efficient, will help bring down bottom line operating costs. It has been reported that the new UNIX Enterprise Server is the fastest Unix server in the world and has been created keeping the IBM clients in mind.
On the other hand, the new Power6 `Hydro-cluster' supercomputer was developed to assist users solve problems in spheres like energy, aerospace and weather modeling. The new IBM supercomputer employs an in-built, water-cooling system proffer users almost five times the performance and more than three times the energy efficiency of its precursor. These two new IBM products are part of a recent wide-ranging launch of a new generation of IBM Power Systems.
