World's leading IT major IBM has introduced its cloud computing centers in Bangalore on September 24, 2008. The cloud computing centers set up by IBM are meant for enterprises from all over the India. With the help of cloud networking one can tap a vast network of computers that can be accessed from long distance by a cell phone, laptop or mobile device for information or data. Cloud computing enable the users to access technology-enabled services from the internet.
Talking to media, Ponani Gopalakrishnan software lab vice-president of IBM India informed that as soon as the network is tapped one can access data or information within fraction of seconds as the power of thousands of computers come together. According to him IBM's cloud computing is based on open standards and open source software which is a family of ready-to-use platform with systems technology and services.
This computing model proves to be very beneficial for the businessmen and entrepreneurs including the consumers. It enables one to access a vast amount of computing resources that can be tapped on-demand to deliver next-generation services. The consumers can easily access facilities such as online medical records or mobile stock portfolio management. In order to expand such a fascinating computing model IMB over the years has invested $100 million and dedicated about 200 researchers
