What will be a landmark feat for the Indian Air Force (IAF), it is all set to climb 'Seven Summits', the highest peaks in the seven continents. By doing so the IAF is going to be the first air force in the world to achieve such feat.

The ‘Seven Summits’ expedition team of the IAF is led-by Wing Commander R.C. Tripathi with its motto 'touching the sky with glory'. In 2005 the team had already climbed the Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world at 8,498 metres.

Adding another feather to its cap the team this year climbed the lofty peak of St. Puncak Jaya in Indonesia measuring 4,884 metres. The other peaks of the Seven Summit list are Mt. Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America and also the highest peak outside Asia at 6,962 metres and Mt. Mckinley, the highest peak of North America.

In Europe the team will scale Mt. Elbrus at an altitude of 5,642 metres. In African continent the team will climb Mt. Kilimanjaro at a height of 5,891 metres, which is also an inactive volcano. Mt. Vinson Massif in Antarctica also figures in IAF the list. The mountaineering expedition will end with scaling of Mt. Mckinley in May 2010.
