The chief of International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohammed ElBaradei, has urged Iran to produce a swift response for the proposal put forward by the US, France and Russia for processing the uranium found in Tehran aboard.

"This is a unique and fleeting opportunity to reverse course from confrontation to cooperation and should, therefore, not be missed," said the IAEA chief at the UN General Assembly.

ElBaradei, while making his last address before he quit the post, has urged the world to adhere to multilateral dialogues as unilateral action had resulted in a "senseless tragedy" in Iraq.

"We must engage those with whom we have differences in dialogue rather than seeking to isolate them," he said. "We must act within the framework of international institutions - in this case, the IAEA and the Security Council - and empower them, rather than bypass them through unilateral action."

He also expressed the Iran war which was launched under "false pretext".

"I will always lament the fact that the tragic war was launched in Iraq that has cost the lives of thousands of innocent civilians," he said, saying that no evidences regarding the revival of nuclear weapons programme by Iran was missing.
