Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reacted sharply on UP's Chief Minister Mayawati's comments that the former uses a special soap to bath every time he visits a Dalit house. Talking to a press conference on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi said that he doesn't use any special soap to bath after visiting dalits.

Rahul even stood up on his chair and showed his clothes to the people present there and asked them to judge for themselves. It is to be noted that UP Chief Minister Mayawati had said on April 7, 2008 that Rahul uses a special soap to bath when he returns after visiting and eating with dalits. She had also alleged that he purifies himself through rituals and incense sticks.

For quite some time now, Rahul Gandhi has been on a visit to the backward regions of Uttar Pradesh. Mayawati had alleged that all this is just for show and the Congress leader must take steps to improve the conditions of the people living there.
