South Korea-based leading automaker, Hyundai Motors Co has come up with an upgraded Sonata model. The premium sedan Sonata made its debut in 2002 which was followed by Sonata Embera in 2005. The new model called Sonata Transform is supposed to be the costliest car ever launched by Hyundai Motors. The upgraded model will be available in three variants ranging between Rs.1,390,000 (Rs.1.39 million) and Rs.1,590,000 (Rs.1.59 million).
Sonata transform is endowed with both petrol and common rail diesel engine. The diesel variant will come with the option of automatic transmission. Hyundai Motors has recently launched its hatchback model Hyundai i20. The company claimed to have procured an additional 3.4 percent market share in 2008 taking its overall share to 20.4 percent in India. South Korea's largest vehicle manufacturing company, Hyundai Motors is capable of producing 1.6 million units annually.
The subsidiary unit of the auto major in India called Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) stormed the country's market by launching Hyundai Santro car. After that it launched vehicles in a number of categories, including hatchback, sedan, and SUV and became one of the largest automakers in India. Over the years, the company has attained the status of the fastest growing passenger car manufacturer in India. The parent company employs over 75,000 people worldwide.
