It seems as if the low-cost-car bug has bitten all the automobile manufacturers, with Tata Motors kicking off the initiative with the launch of its Nano in June. Now, it is the turn of Hyundai Motors, which is all set to develop a 800-cc car, which will cater to the demands of developing nations like India.
Nikkei, a Japanese business daily, reports that Hyundai stands fourth, with respect to sales, among the automobile majors of the world. The reports also claim that the automobile major is planning to develop a 800 cc car in India via Hyundai Motor India Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of the South Korean manufacturer.
Lheem Heung-Soo, the CEO of Hyundai Motor India Ltd, during his interview with Nikkei, told that the company will be manufacturing its new car at the Chennai factory.
He also mentioned that the car will be rolled out after few more years and has quoted a price of $5,000-$6,000, which is almost double that of Nano.
