Hyundai Santa Fe, the new SUV from Hyundai was launched in India on Thursday.

With the SUV segment growing at rapid pace in India, Hyundai has launched its high-priced SUV model to expand its market share in the segment.

The car comes priced between Rs. 20.95-22.95 lakh. The company aims to sell 100-150 units in 2010. As of now, the model would be imported from South Korea as completely built units (CBU) and the company has no immediate plans of starting its production in India.

Pre-bookings for Hyundai Santa Fe would begin from October 18, said Hyundai’s Marketing and Sales Director, Arvind Saxena.

“Globally, Santa Fe has already sold over 20 lakh units since its launch in June 2000 and we are confident that in India, Santa Fe will give us a competitive edge in the SUV segment,” MD and CEO, HMIL H W Park said at the launch.

The South Korean-based Hyundai’s other successful models in India include Santro, i10, i20 and sedans Accent, Verna and Sonata.
