Hyundai Motor India, a major in passenger cars, reported a surge of 54% in its domestic sales which is 23,193 units in July 2009 as against 15,066 units in July 2008.
The company has reported 6% increase in its exports in July to 22,350 units from 21,086 vehicles in the year-ago period.
The total sales stood at 45,543 units last month, up from 36,152 a year earlier.
"Hyundai India registered a steady growth in the month of July and it seems the market is stabilising at this point and in coming months we hope to see both exports and domestic market picking up specially with the festival season starting next month," said Arvind Saxena, senior vice-president (marketing and sales) of the company.
"Also a strong demand for the i20 has also helped Hyundai India maintain its share in the domestic market."
