The Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) has conferred Hyundai Motor India Ltd with the Top Exporter of the year award for 2006-07. The EEPC is an apex industry body set up by the ministry of commerce. According to a statement from the auto company, Hyundai has been honoured for its contribution to engineering exports during the year 2006-07.
Hyundai Motor India Regional Manager (South) Kim has received the Top Exporter of the year award 2006-07, in large enterprises category, from Kerala State Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem. The Southern Region Annual Award Presentation ceremony of EEPC took place at Thiruvananthapuram. After receiving the award, Kim said that it is a great honour for the company which will encourage it to excel forward.
It is estimated that Hyundai Motor India Ltd recorded an export performance for the year 2006-07 at Rs 2,933.34 crore. Currently, the auto company exports to 95 countries across the globe. Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) is a unit of South Korea-based Hyundai Motor Crop. The parent company is the sixth largest car maker in the world. Over the years, HMIL has emerged as the second largest and the fastest growing car manufacturer in India.
