Hyundai India Motor Limited has set target sales of 5.5 lakh units for its cars, including the exports for this fiscal.
"We expect to export about 2.7 lakh vehicles and about 2.8 lakh in the domestic market," H.S. Lheem, MD and CEO of Hyundai Motor Limited told the media during the SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) conference in New Delhi.
According to Lheem, the company has plans to transfer the manufacturing of the i - 20 models for export to Europe by mid of 2010, citing logistical reasons. He added that the company is expecting a boost in its sale as the festive season is approaching.
"We expect to sell around 40,000 i-20s this year," Lheem said.
He added that Hyundai India has plans to enhance its production capacity by adding one more shift, so that the company will be able to roll out 2,500 units daily from its production facility. Currently 2000 units are being rolled out from its production facility. The new proposal will be effective from Sep 14.
