Considering the security factor of Hyderabad, the city police have announced to form a special force to deal with terrorist attacks. While announcing the proposal, city police commissioner B. Prasad Rao informed that the new force called the City Guards will form part of State Security Guards (SSG). The state government has decided to form SSG after watching the last week's terror attacks in Mumbai. The anti-terror force, SSG will be constituted on the lines of National Security Guard (NSG) which played a key role in suppressing the terrorists in Mumbai.
Talking to media, B. Prasad Rao informed that the special city force will attain training with NSG commandos. The City Guards personnel will be equipped with sophisticated weapons to counter any terrorist attacks in Hyderabad. The state government is likely to recruit 2,967 personnel for the newly proposed force. The notification of the recruitment will be issued on December 19. Candidates from Hyderabad will also be able to apply for city guards posts.
An official of deputy inspector general (DIG) rank will be the chief of the proposed city force. The City Guards will work under the overall supervision of the head of Greyhounds, the elite anti-Maoist force. Hyderabad had experienced three bomb blasts last year, killing over 50 people. So it is of prime importance to constitute a special force to safeguard the city from any kind of attacks.
