All the four-star, five-star and five-star deluxe hotels of Hyderabad have attained 24-hour liquor license from the government of Andhra Pradesh. The Chief Minister of the state, YS Rajasekhar Reddy has made this announcement in the PATA Travel Mart organized at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre. Depending on the hotel category, each hotel group will be charged a license fee of Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. Moreover, if the hotels possess extra property in different areas, they will have to pay 25 per cent of the current license fee as additional fee.
According to the President of Hotel and Restaurant Association of Andhra Pradesh Veer Vijay Singh, this step is taken to transform Hyderabad as a prominent international tourist destination by promoting the tourism industry of the state. As most of the international guests prefer wine with their food, this new move will enable them to get liquor at any hour, he added. Mr Veer Vijay Singh has also assured implementation of the license facility with utmost care so as to avoid its misuse in the state.
Meanwhile the hotel fraternity of Hyderabad finds this relaxation as a boon for all kinds of guests visiting the city. The availability of liquor all round the clock will enable the guests to enjoy themselves even at late hours. This will increase the income and popularity of Hyderabad hotels by miles. Mr Farookh Sunny, the general manager of Ellaa Suites said the hotel groups of the city are in the process of analyzing the pros and cons of the new relaxation and very soon, they will come out with their take on it.
