Hughes Communications, a well-known networking services company in India with a niche in satellite media, recently declared that it has deployed a satellite broadband network for Union Bank of India (UBI). The satellite broadband network, it stated, will assist in operating the UBI’s core banking solution across its 400 branches and ATMs throughout India. Under this deployment of satellite broadband network for UBI, the Hughes Communications will link up the bank with its Managed Services NOC in Gurgaon.
Apart from this, Hughes Communications will also provide the bank around-the-clock technical support helpline service to enhance its network. It is a five-year project costing Rs 2.2 Crore and is being carried out in two phases, the first of which is almost complete. This contract comprises deployment of a turnkey network, which inturn includes system integration, satellite bandwidth and network management.
