Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman is likely to host the 2009 Oscar Award ceremony commencing on February 22. The actor has recently been named as the sexiest man alive by popular People's magazine. Jackman will replace Jon Stewart who hosted in 2008 and 2006. With new producers, a new director, new set designer and even a new music director, the Oscars academy is excited to introduce the new host in the form of Jackman.
According to producers Laurence Mark and Bill Condon, Hugh Jackman is the ideal choice to host a celebration of the year’s movies as the actor is endowed with immense talents. Commenting on his selection for this year's Oscar host, the 40-year-old actor stated that it is a privilege for him to deliver on a prestigious platform liked Oscar awards. Different people have different opinions for Jackman.
Steve Pond, author of the 2005 book 'The Big Show: High Times and Dirty Dealings Backstage at the Academy Awards' feels that although Jackman fits for the job of host but he is not the kind of guy to go out and deliver a comic monologue at the top of the show. The actor is more comfortable with dance and songs. Now it will be interesting to see how Hugh Jackman performs his new role of Oscar host.
