HTC Desire owners will be provided with the Android 2.2 Froyo update this week, an official statement said on Monday. The new update will bring 720p video recording, iTunes syncing and many more to the Desire.

The Euro version of this update will be embedded with the signature HTC Sense UI along with features like the App Share widget, enhanced Caller ID and a better multi-language keyboard.

According to the company, the users will be notified about the update and the update won't erase the data from the phone. However, the Desire owners have to connect to a Wi-Fi network before doing the download to avoid data charges.

The Froyo updates will be provided first to the unlocked HTC Desire phones and then to the owners of carrier-branded phones.

Interestingly, the HTC Evo 4G phones will also be getting the Froyo update in the coming week. The Evo will be released through Sprint.
