Bollywood's heartthrob actor Hrithik Roshan has become the brand ambassador of Reliance Mobile. The Bollywood star will be promoting different services of Reliance Communications including DTH, mobile and data fields. The ads featuring Hrithik Roshan are already on. The appointment of the actor is a part of company's 150 crore media campaign. Reliance Communications has planned the high budget marketing campaign for promoting its newly launched GSM and DTH operations.
The theme of the marketing campaign of Reliance Communications is 'Just pick up the phone, don’t wait…go for it'. There are as many as eight advertisements, which feature Hrithik Roshan. He will remain the new face of Reliance Mobile for three years and will get around Rs 5 - 10 crore annually. The Reliance-Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group-owned Reliance Communications operates Reliance CDMA and newly launched GSM network.
As per an estimate, Reliance has GSM subscribers' base of 13 million and it is striving towards 100 million overall (GSM+CDMA) subscribers. Almost all the telecom companies have roped in celebrities and the moves have massively triggered the marketing of the products and services. BSNL has Deepika Padukone while Idea has Abhishek Bachchan. Airtel has host of celebrities like Madhavan, Vidya Balan, Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan, AR Rahman. Over the last few years, celebrity brand endorsement business in India has become a profitable business not just for the companies but also for the celebrities.
