HP has launched its first tablet PC called the Slate 500 that will run on Microsoft’s newest Windows 7 OS.
 
The Slate 500 tablet PC is designed mainly for the corporate customers. So, it will face stiff competition from RIM's PlayBook.  The tablet PC sports an 8.9 inch multi-touch display screen and is powered by Intel's Atom processor Z540.
 
The other features with this device include 2GB RAM, extendable storage capacity of up to 64GB, integrated 3MP camera, a front facing 0.3MP camera for video conferencing, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and USB connections.
 
The Slate 500 works for up to five hours and includes software products like HP Support Assistant, EVERNOTE, Adobe Reader, Adobe PDF, integrated microphone and stereo speakers.
 
The HP tablet PC costs $799 and can either be purchased directly from HP or can be ordered online.
