Hewlett Packard, more popularly known as HP, the largest technology company in the world, launched its own university in India - 'HP Software University' (HPSU), on 19th March 2009. The university has been founded in collaboration with Indian Institute of Hardware Technology (IIHT). Claimed to be the 'first-of-its-kind' program in the non-enterprise training space, HPSU has been set up with the aim of providing an answer to the growing demand for software testing professionals in India.
In the initial stages, the university will be launched in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Noida, Chennai and Bangalore. Over the next few months, more cities will come within its ambit. The programs offered by the university will help students acquire accredited training on HP Software. The curriculum will include teaching of testing software from HP, like Quick Test professional and LoadRunner. HPSU also offers to provide the certified professionals access to special HP Software online resources, providing the latest in software news, product information, job openings and more.
As per Mr Keshava Raju, CEO of IIHT, the courses of 'HP Software University' have been devised in a way to equip the students with unique skills, which will benefit them to a great extent and help make them more marketable'. According to Mr Neelam Dhawan, Managing Director - HP India, the university will provide a competitive edge to the students, in the software testing industry, through their courses. The software testing market in India expected to grow upto $13 billion, by the year 2010, providing much scope to the professionals from HPSU.
