Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMCI) has decided to launch a 1,000cc bike at the price of one million rupees. The bike will be in the market by the end of the year. Y S Guleria, senior manager-Sales of HMCI said that the company is working on a 100cc model to be made here, and added that the CBR1,000 model will be imported as a completely built unit.
Mr Guleria said that the 100cc bike will be launched in 2010. Telling the reason behind late launch of the bike, he said that the segment as of now is logging negative growth. Earlier, it launched its new motorcycle model CBF Stunner in Chennai on Saturday. CBF Stunner is inspired by CB1,000 from Europe. The new bike has sporty look and five speed transmissions.
Koji Toyota, vice president-purchases HMCI said that last fiscal the company sold 907,000 units. Data available show that HMCI’s average monthly sell is over 82,000 units for this year. The company official told media that they are working on higher cubic capacity scooters. Company targets to sell 80,000 units of CBF Stunner this fiscal year.
