The wax model of Adolf Hitler recently unveiled at the new Madame Tussauds Museum in Berlin has created an uproar as critics say it is not appropriate to place him alongside celebrities, pop stars and other famous international figures. This controversial wax model features a glum-looking Hitler seated in a mock bunker during the last days of his life. It has infact generated so much heat that it has even overshadowed the media preview of the new branch of Madame Tussauds which opens its doors to the public on Saturday, July 5.
The main contention revolves around the critics’ stressing upon the fact that Hitler was a Nazi dictator who started World War II and ordered the extermination of
Meike Schulze, the head of Midway Attractions in Germany that is incharge of the Berlin branch of the Madame Tussauds Museum, said, ‘Of course the figure will arouse interest but we hope people will realize he is part of an exhibition with a range of attractions.’ It however seems that none are paying any heed to her request as around 200 media persons clamored to catch a glimpse of the Hitler figure, while ignoring George W Bush, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and others. This wax model of Hitler was prepared by 25 workers who labored on it for over four months.
