Hindi thriller ‘Sikandar’ and Marathi film ‘Samaantar’ have been nominated in two different categories at the Bollywood and Beyond Film Festival, scheduled to be held at Stuttgart next month.

Director Piyush Jha’s Hindi thriller ‘Sikandar’ and Marathi film ‘Samaantar’ have been nominated in two different categories at the Bollywood and Beyond Film Festival, scheduled to be held at Stuttgart from 14-19 July. The movie ‘Sikandar’ is in contention for the German Star of India award, while ‘Samaantar’ will bid for Audience Award at the film festival.
 
Written and directed by Piyush Jha, ‘Sikandar’ is a suspense thriller starring Parzaan Dastur and Ayesha Kapur. Apart from them the movie also has other actors like R. Madhavan, Sanjay Suri and Arunoday Singh. Recently the movie has been screened at the International Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA). On the other hand, ‘Samaantar’ is Marathi drama featuring Amol Palekar and Sharmila Tagore. Amol Palekar has also directed the film. ‘Samaantar’ has been written by Sandhya Gokhale. 

Started in 2004, the Bollywood & Beyond Film Festival is the only festival in Germany which is entirely dedicated to Indian films. The forth coming event will be the fifth edition of the film festival. The annual film festival provides a market place for Indian as well as German films. Both ‘Sikandar’ and ‘Samaantar’ are the productions of BIG Pictures. While talking to media, Mahesh Ramanathan, COO of BIG Pictures said that the nomination of both the films can seen as one of the great achievements of the production house as far as global reach of Indian films is concerned.
