There is some good news for all Indians, who always wanted to email their friends and family in their native language. To realize this idea, Google has launched a new feature in Gmail that makes it easy to type out emails in Indian languages. Now users can see an icon with an Indian character while composing a new mail in Gmail. This feature is enabled by default for Gmail users in India.
To utilize this new feature, users have to click the Indian languages icon. After that, they can type words the way they sound in English and Gmail will automatically convert the word to the selected Indian local language equivalent. Currently Gmail supports five Indian languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Users can select the language of their choice from the drop-down list next to the icon.
Apart from this, the Gmail interface is now available with many different Indian language settings such as Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi and Oriya. If users do not see this function enabled by default, they will need to go to the "Settings" page and enable this option in the "Language" section.
