Former First Lady and New York Senator Hillary Clinton won over Senator Barack Obama on Tuesday, May, 13, 2008 in the West Virginia primary. The win has increased the likelihood of her continued candidacy. Racial considerations are believed to be the salient factors by experts for Mrs. Clinton’s win. In West Virginia she drew strong support from white-working class voters.
Hillary Clinton despite her win is still the underdog in the race for the Democratic nomination. Barack Obama is still way to ahead of Mrs. Clinton in the delegate fight. Obama supporters, however, accused the former First Lady for playing the race card last week, when she remarked that she has more support amongst White Americans then Obama did.
Hillary Clinton has seized victory in West Virginia, where she needed it the most owing to significant fund-raising in the region. Barack Obama, who was campaigning at Missouri on Tuesday, remarked that he was confident that he could unify the party as the nominee.
