The five thieves have been identified as Vinod Sahi, Manoj Sahi, Veer Bahadur Batala, Tapendra Sahi and Ram Maan. Veer Bahadur Batala was the brain behind the theft as he told others that Hema Malini’s house will be vacant on weekends. The police could recover part of the loot from them.
JCP Rakesh Maria, Crime branch said, “We have arrested five persons and recovered part of the booty. We are still looking for a few more suspects, identified as Netra Sahi, Garak Sahi and Umesh Sahi, who are believed to have fled to Nepal with the rest of the loot,’’ “Most of them work as guards. The main accused, Veer Batala, works as a watchman in a building near Hema Malini’s bungalow. He passed on the information to the others that the actress’ bungalow could be an easy target.’’
