According to Meteorological Agency of Japan, a heavy earthquake of 7 Richter scale hit Japan early in the morning. However, there has not been any report of damage or injury. On the other hand, a warning was issued for a 20-inch tsunami along the eastern coast of Hokkaido and the northeastern coast of Japan's main island of Honshu.
Japanese authorities have suggested people to stay away from beaches to avoid any harm from tsunami. The quake hit the eastern coast Hokkaido, which is Japan's northernmost island. Its depth according to sources was about 12 miles. Also, there are reports on an earthquake that erupted in Indonesia. The U.S. Geological Survey said that Thursday's quake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.6.
US Geological Survey said that the quake was centered 55 miles beneath the Molucca Sea. However, Seismology Agency of Indonesia said that the magnitude of the quake was 7.6 in Richter scale. Sulawesi Island was close to the epicenter. However, the mayor of the city of Manado in Sulawesi Island said that there has not been any report of injury.
