India’s second largest private sector lending firm, HDFC Bank, has reported a surge of 24.27% in its net profit to touch Rs.663.9 crore for the second quarter of the 2009-2010, which ended on Sep 30. HDFC Bank had made a net profit of Rs.534.23 crore in the corresponding period last year.
The bank's total income stood at Rs.2,850.2 crore in the second quarter, up by 8.7 percent from Rs.2,620.5 crore in year-ago period.
Loan approvals stood at Rs.28,418 crore for the six months ended Sep 30, an increase of 18 percent when compared to Rs.24,180 crore which was reported for the corresponding period last year.
