The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corp (HSIIDC) has announced to create a land bank of 17,000 acres for industrial units. As per a statement of HSIIDC spokesman, the new land bank will provide its services to the industrial belts and infrastructure projects which are being planned in Haryana. The spokesman informed that in the year 2008, an amount of .10.45 billion will be spent on development of industrial infrastructure by the corporation.

The proposed development projects of the state include expressways, model industrial townships, clusters and dedicated theme parks. It is estimated that an investment of nearly Rs.120 billion (Rs.12, 000 crore) will be required to accomplish the projects. Under the planned project, Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway will be constructed. The expressway will help trucks carrying cargo to and from north India bypassing Delhi.

Apart from it, other projects include industrial model townships at Rohtak, Faridabad, Kharkhoda (Sonepat) and Jagadhari. Expansions of townships at Manesar, Bawal, Barhi, Rai, Karnal and Saha are also included in the development project. The work of dedicated theme parks has already been started in many parts of the state.

The state of Haryana has the biggest automobile industry in the country with big players like Maruti-Suzuki, Hero Honda and several automotive parts manufacturers having set up facilities in the Gurgaon-Manesar industrial belt near New Delhi.  Recently, HSIIDC has inked an agreement with Japanese giant Mitsui and India’s Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services to set up an integrated Japanese industrial, transportation and logistic park in Haryana.
