The farmers of Haryana, in honor of chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, have branded a rice variety in his name. A thanks-giving meeting was held at the residence of the Haryana CM recently, where the farmers launched the 'Hooda brand' of rice. The new carry bags containing the rice carried the 'Hooda brand' name as well as a portrait of the chief minister.

The paddy brand in question is the Pusa-1121 variety that is regarded similar to the Basmati variety of rice. Since the past few months, Bhupinder Singh Hooda had been trying his level best to get the ban lifted on the export of this variety of rice following ardent requests from farmers. The Haryana farmers were opposed to this ban, which finally got lifted due to Hooda's intervention.
