Google will turn 10 on Sunday 7th September 2008. In these ten years Google has become one of the most valuable brand names in the world. Google is worth $142 billion, employs 19,000 employs worldwide & should cross $20 billion in sales this year.

 

Google was started by Sergey Brin and Larry Page who were undergraduates at Stanford University. In these ten years it survived the dotcom crash and become a nighmare for internet gaints Yahoo & MSN. Google’s success is built largely around internet search & online advertising. In last 10 years it has become most people’s favourite search engine.

 

Google derived its name from a common misspelling of the word googol, which refers to 10¹⁰⁰, the number represented by a 1 followed by one hundred zeros. Today, the world google has become so popular that it has found its way to the Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary and the Oxford English Dictionary. It means using Google search engine to obtain information on the Internet.
