Hafiz Saeed, the chief of Lashkar-e-Toiba and founder of JuD, has filed a petition with a Pakistani court to discharge him from the two “fake” cases filed against him under Anti-Terrorism Act. Hafiz Saeed has been accused by India as the mastermind behind the 26/11 Mumbai carnage.

Saeed’s lawyer A K Dogar, who filed the petition in Lahore High Court, mentioned that the FIRs registered against Saeed in Faisalabad police station last week were “without lawful authority and of no legal effect".

According to the petition Pakistan is being pressurized by India to take action against Saeed without any charges. It also claimed that the two "fake" cases have been registered on allegations which are false.

Saeed was placed under house arrest after the FIRs were registered, but the police officials and a JuD spokesman have said no formal written order has been issued for Saeed’s detention.
