H Y Sharada Prasad passed away at the age of 84; he served three Indian PMs as media advisor. Holenarsipur Yoganarasimha Sharada Prasad was his full name, but he was known for his short name H.Y. Sharada Prasad. He has left his wife and two sons behind him. Known as Shourie among relatives and close friends, he was born in Bangalore.
 
The Maysore University graduate was sentenced for imprisonment during the Quit India movement 1942. He started his journalism occupation with the Indian Express group in Bombay in 1945. Later, in the year 1955-56 he was awarded with Neiman fellowship for journalism at Harvard University. He worked with Indira Gandhi, Morarji Desai, and Rajiv Gandhi as media advisor.
 
He was an editor of state own magazine Yojana. Also, he worked as director of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC). His last book was 'The Book I Won’t Be Writing,' which in fact is a collection of columns he wrote for The Asian Age. Former CJI, M.N. Venkatachallaiah, once, writing about him had said that his was an extraordinary life: a 16-annas Mysorean; an 18-annas Indian.
