First time in history of World Malayalee Council (WMC) some one from Gulf has become head of it. This time Soman Baby, who is an associate editor of Bahrain’s Gulf Daily News has been elected as head of the body at WMC’s sixth annual conference held in Singapore on Saturday. Election from gulf region to the post will help thousands of Malayalee workers living in gulf to show their grievances effectively.
The council meeting was attended by many known and popular persons of Malayalee origin, including film actors. Singapore President S.R. Nathan was the chief guest at the event. The Works and Housing Minister in Kerala government Binoy Viswam too was there. Malayalee films superstar Mammootty's presence was enlightening. WMC is a body working for uniting Malayalee Diaspora across the world.
