The Women's Individual Pursuit event of the Beijing Olympics on Sunday, August 17 saw both the gold as well as the silver medals going to Great Britain. British Rebecca Romero (3:28.321) beat compatriot Wendy Houvenaghel (3:30.395) in the event. It was after few minutes that Lesya Kalitovska (3:31.413) of Ukraine finished third to win the bronze medal. Kalitovska, however, had to face a good chase from Alison Shanks (3:34.156) of New Zealand.
