Great Britain (Tom James, Steve Williams, Pete Reed and Andrew Triggs Hodge) won the gold medal in the Rowing Men’s Four after finishing in a time of 6:06.57min. Australia (Matt Ryan, James Marburg, Cameron McKenzie-McHarg and Francis Hegerty) got the second place to receive the silver in a time of 6:07.85min, 1.28 seconds off the winning time. With this event, Britain has got its third consecutive Olympic gold. France (Julien Despres, Benjamin Rondeau, Germain Chardin and Dorian Mortelette) came in third with the finishing time of 6:09.31min.
Australian led for most of the race, having a half-second edge over Britain at the 1500m mark. Then Britain displayed how it has been one of the most dominant Rowing nations in history with a 500 meter sprint that grabbed the seventh Rowing gold of the day. France held the fourth place until the three-quarter mark, but overtook Slovenia in the final stretch to grab bronze. Slovenia finished fourth in a time of 6:11.62min, while the Czech Republic placed fifth in a finishing time of 6:16.56min.
