Union law minister M Veerappa Moily on Monday mentioned that the Central Government will be introducing a bill for ensuring accountability and standard of the judiciary in the winter session of Parliament.

"We need to introduce lots of systems to ensure accountability and standard among the judiciary. That is why...in winter session... we hope to come out with a very comprehensive bill," Union law minister M Veerappa Moily said.

The bill, 'Judicial Accountability and Standard Bill, 2009’, will be replacing the Judges Inquiry Act of 1968. Moily mentioned that a nation-wide discussion on the same will be conducted on Oct 24 and Oct 25, which will help him to come out with a "vision statement" regarding the resetting of the limit for earliest disposal of cases to 2 years from the existing 15 years.

"I may come out with a vision statement to ensure the disposal of the cases at the earliest limit, that means reducing it (the limit) from 15 to 2 years...," he said.
