A health ministry official told on Monday that government will soon be allowing the "restricted sale" of Tamiflu in open market so that the fight against the deadly swine flu infection in a better way.
"After a meeting of top health officials, it was decided that Tamiflu will be sold in public but only in restricted chemist shops," a health ministry official told.
"At least 480 chemists have been given permission for the purpose. A detailed notification will disseminate Tuesday," he added.
Even though many nations have permitted the sales of Tamiflu over-the-counter, India had expressed hesitation for the same. "The situation is under control and it's not the time to sale it open market”, said a health ministry statement earlier.
Minister of State for Health Dinesh Trivedi has said: "If the situation demands, we will allow restricted sale of Tamiflu."
