According to the words of Tourism Minister Kumari Selja, government has allocated Rs.398.33 crore for 106 projects to give a boost to the tourism industry of India.
 
Selja said that state governments are in the process of identifying and developing tourist spots, with the Centre rendering funds for the development of tourism projects.
 
"During the current financial year, 106 tourism projects have been cleared in the country and Rs.398.33 crore have been sanctioned for them," she said. She also mentioned that 17 of these total tourist spots identified are in Jammu and Kashmir, for which Rs.34.92 crore would be spent.
 
Till October this year, about 4.02 million tourists visited India. The figure saw a seven percent dip as compared to last year in the like period.
