Internet search giant Google has come up with a new and unique mobile phone app for Nokia S60 handset users to seek information on specific needs.
"The application is equipped with speech recognition technology to understand Indian accents. Its software enables users of Nokia S60 handsets to access information on the internet by voice search," Google India said.
The app, which can be used for free, enables the users to access cricket match updates, search for a pharmacy, business listing or restaurant etc by voice search.
"The downloadable application automatically detects the user's location and facilitates faster access to Google search," Google India products head Vinay Goel said.
“The application also has a feature to minimise typing in case of using the mobile keypad”, says Google.
"The extension of Google's search by voice feature to mobile handsets is a natural next step for our mobile strategy. Speech is one of our key innovations in the mobile space out of the India engineering centre," Goel said.
Voice search speeds up the process of conducting a Google search using a Nokia mobile after downloading the application from www.m.google.co.in .
